Fall 2021
SEASON is excited to announce the first Seattle show for Josh Meillier, opening Sunday afternoon October 10, 2-5pm at 1222 NE Ravenna Blvd. The show will continue to December 30, 2021. After the opening reception, visits are by appointment only.
The internet is understood to be a wealth of information, but what happens when that information is distorted and deliberately misleading? The 14 paintings in this show (all from 2021) provide no assistance in navigating this grey area, in fact, using trompe l’oeil effects, transfers, collage and paint, Mr. Meillier exaggerates these falsehoods and employs a sleight of hand to implore us to examine the work closer.
Josh Meillier (b. 1990, Northfield, Minnesota; lives and works in Geneva, Switzerland) completed his BFA in drawing and painting at Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2013, and he received an MFA in painting at Pratt Institute in 2020. He has exhibited solo and group exhibitions in Connecticut, Maryland, Missouri, Minnesota, New York, and South Carolina. His most recent shows have been “Contempo Tempo” at NE Sculpture in Minneapolis, “inheritance” at Super Dutchess Gallery, in New York City, “Lately” at CIRCA Gallery in Minneapolis MN, and “i don’t understand this world” at Space369 in St. Paul, MN.
